The LASSI team unveiled the IlliniSat-0 CubeSat engineering development unit at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Designed for middle and high school student experiments, the device measures 20 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm with clear acrylic walls for optimal viewing of the satellite components contained inside. A portable version of the ground support software was also unveiled. In this iteration a light sensor, a magnetometer, and a thermocouple were actively collecting data and downlinking it to the ground telemetry monitor. All the sensors could be stimulated by guests, who could then see the results of their interaction in the telemetry. Special thanks to the UIUC 4H/Extension for sponsoring the development of the ground unit.
