Students gathered this week in the new Steven R Nagel Mission Operations Center to watch the launch of Axiom 1, the first private astronaut mission to the International Space Station. Steve was UIUC's first astronaut in August 1979 and flew on STS 51G, 61A, 37, and 55. The new control center will support LASSI's future ISS payloads and CubeSat missions and will host the GLIDE Mission Science Data Center.
